What iPhones does Scatto support?
Scatto runs on recent iPhones - the App Store listing shows the exact minimum iOS version. The 60fps live preview holds best on iPhone 13 and newer (A15 Bionic and above). -
Can I apply film simulations to photos I already have?
Not in v1. Scatto is a capture tool - the filter is baked into the image at the moment you take it, the way film does. A separate import workflow may come later if there is interest. -
Why is there no Android version?
Scatto leans on Metal, Core Image, and the AVFoundation camera pipeline to hit 60fps with a LUT applied. Android has different cameras and different rendering APIs. A faithful port would be a different app, not a build flag. -
Does Scatto collect any data about me?
Your photos and videos never leave your phone - they live inside Scatto and, if you opt in, mirror to your Apple Photos library. App Store builds do send anonymous crash reports and usage events (which film sims and filters get used, how often) through Google Firebase, so we can fix bugs and decide what to build next. No personal identifiers, no photo content. The privacy page has the full breakdown. -
Can I shoot RAW?
No. Scatto is a JPEG/H.264 app on purpose - every film sim is meant to be the photo, not a preview. If you want full-tilt RAW workflow, your phone already has a great camera app for that. -
How do I switch film simulations?
Tap the yellow film tab to cycle to the next sim. Swipe up to go back, swipe down to go forward. Long-press to open the filter layer (expired film, halation, light leak). -
Where are my photos saved?
Every capture goes to Scatto's own film-roll album inside the app (still images as JPEG, video as MP4). If you turn on "Save to Apple Photos" in Settings, captures also mirror to an album called "Scatto" inside your iPhone Photos app. You own them either way - drag them anywhere. -
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Email [email protected] with the device model, iOS version, and (if you can) a screen recording. We read every email. -
How much does Scatto cost?
Scatto is free at launch, with no in-app purchases and no subscriptions - every film simulation and filter is included. If that ever changes, the App Store listing is the source of truth. -
Can I request a film simulation?
Yes - write to us. Every LUT in Scatto started as a request, a reference photo, and a long afternoon in DaVinci Resolve.
Reporting a bug
The most helpful bug reports include:
- Your iPhone model and iOS version.
- The Scatto version (Settings → About).
- What you were doing when it happened.
- A screen recording or screenshot, if you can get one.
Send it all to [email protected] with the subject line "Scatto bug report".
